It is not recommended to completely power down your alarm system however, in some cases, it becomes need to do this like in a lighting strike or a major construction going on.
Basically, there are two sources of power for any alarm system
- Electric Plug
- Battery
By disconnecting both of these sources your alarm system will stop operation and will go completely blank displaying nothing on sensors or keypad.

Disconnect Battery
To disconnect the battery you will have to first find the main electric control panel. Open the electric control panel. You will have to find the battery in the box.
After locating the battery you will have to see that battery is connected to the main unit with 2 wires. You can disconnect either one or both of them
Disconnect Main Electrical Plug
You need to first locate your main electric plug because it may be anywhere in your house. On finding the electrical transformer that is the primary source of power for your alarm system.
You will have to locate a normal electric plug, with an electrical transformer plugged onto it. Then disconnect the transformer from the plug. This will disconnect the power to your alarm system.
If you are unable to find this transformer, you can disconnect it from inside the control panel. You can also disconnect the wire coming from the main plug to your control unit.
The voltage at the control panel is only 12V, so you don’t need to worry about electric shock.
In most cases, the wire from the main plug is at the leftmost side of the control panel, and in some systems, it may be located at the right-most side of the control panel. You can unscrew the wire from the control panel to disconnect it from the main electric plug.
