Technology has provided us many advantages; Now, you can open your garage door with remote control. For your convenience, you can open the garage door while sitting in the car. This can be done with the help of a garage door sensor.
The remote of the garage door opener activates a motor that is in contact with a pulley system that closes the garage door. The infrared sensors are placed on either side of the garage that starts blinking if the system is not working correctly.
How does the garage door safety sensor works?
Safety door sensors are an essential part of a door opening system, sometimes the system may
malfunction, which can be proved very dangerous for the cars, and it can even cost you life. For the safety of human life, garage safety door sensors are designed to protect you in case of any malfunction.
Traditional door safety sensors were mechanical that reverses the door due to physical contact, but now photoelectric sensors are used commonly. Photoelectric sensors use an infrared beam placed about 6 inches above the ground on both sides of the door, making an invisible light beam. When the light beam is broken by something like a car, leg, etc., the door automatically starts moving back.

How to bypass garage door sensors?
Garage door sensors prevent doors from closing if something comes in between. Sensors provide critical security features, but these sensors sometimes do not work correctly. In such a case, you have the option to bypass the garage door sensors. You can turn the system to manual to bypass the garage door sensor. Pull down the door’s manual release cord located next to the garage door motor; this will disconnect the trolley from the automatic door opening system and allow you to open or close the door manually.
Some reasons affect the working of garage door sensors:
- Dirty Lenses
- Pinched Wires
- The garage door won’t close
- Sensors wire damage
- Sensors power supply
You can check above mentioned factors to make your sensors work properly. This is how to fix a garage door sensor
Test the door sensor
To check whether sensors are working fine or not, place something like a log in the line of sensors and try to close the garage door. If the door reverses after sensing the log, it means the sensors are working fine.
